The group operating in Keszthely is closely connected to the educational and research programs with its current instrumentation and tasks. Thus, basic and applied research in plant molecular genetics; research directions supporting plant breeding programs focus primarily on potato, grape, and vegetable crops. Detection of genetic variability at the molecular level (application of marking methods in the framework of domestic and international collaborations) and mapping of genes of economic significance using molecular techniques in key areas. In their studies, they use high-throughput technologies available in the laboratory, such as microarray and next-generation sequencing.
